PROGRESS REPORT
-
An architect has not been retained. We are talking with several.
-
Once the architect is in place, plans for the construction of the seating area of the theatre will be done.
-
Once the plans are done, they go to the School Board for approval and then onto various agencies for approval.
-
Permitting process begins.
-
Finally, construction can commence.
Seems like a lot of 'activity' considering the fact that we're only building a sloped foundation for 120 theatre
seats!
Currently,
the School District is remodelling the entire building with the
exception of the auditorium. These remodelled classrooms will
house District staff. We understand that project is due to be
finished the end of March. Until that time, the public cannot
have access to the building.
FINANCES
On
November 4, Allied Arts hosted a black tie fund-raising dinner at the
Old Grammar School. Tickets sold-out quickly. The evening
began with nibbles and wine at the Veteran's Hall (as alcohol is not
permitted on school grounds). School buses then whisked the
guests to the Performing Arts Center for an exquisite meal and on-going
entertainment. It was a wonderful event.
To date, the event has raised almost $20,000. These funds will be used on the conversion project.
We hope to dedicate these funds to materials and that labor will be volunteered.
Theatre at the Old Grammar School welcomes all help!
Our Staff
We
have an experienced and dedicated group of volunteers and
administrators. Each member strives to create a supportive and
challenging atmosphere to encourage adults and students to
participate. We will soon introduce our members and volunteers,
and choose a volunteer of the month.
