Doreen DepplerA Native Californian, Doreen has lived in San Luis Obispo county since 1955. After a career in education as Speech Pathologist & Ad- ministrator. Doreen moved to Cambria. Still active on several non-profit boards Doreen spends leisure time in watercolor, collage and pastel.
Doreen served on the SLO County Arts Council Board for 9 years, and is now active with art associations in Cambria & Paso Robles. While with the SLO County Office of Education she coordinated an annual countywide Art Festival for students K-12th grade, and promoted arts in the schools. In 2006 her grant application for Allied Arts ARTReach in Cambria schools will be funded by Central Coast funds for Children.
Doreen experiments with found objects and antique treasures to form collages. Her watercolors, mainly landscape, floral and still life are from life or from her photographs. Visitors to her studio often remark on the variety of work including greeting cards printed on an old fash- ioned washing machine wringer.
